Checkmate Arts products are made in Michigan. Products have interchangeable parts to make custom designs easy and to lower manufacturing costs. Display products support additional art forms such as art tiles, stained glass, photos, paintings, etc. For example, a Checkmate lamp or display box can house art tiles from other artists that can be installed by the lamp owner.
Art
Checkmate Arts creates art in metal, glass and wood. Our primary art style is metal with patinas and dyes. Metal can be art by itself or it can form a structure to house other art. Glass and wood enhance the beauty of our designs. Our goal is to combine materials in ways that are unique and beautiful. This is why we created display home decor products that can house other art forms. For example, a lamp can house paintings in the sides. The paintings can be installed by the owner or the painter.
Home Decor
Home decor is a way to make art that is practical/useful in addition to being beautiful. Checkmate Arts makes clocks, lamps, napkin holders, lock boxes, music boxes, tea lights, picture frames, display stands, key racks and many other items. Many of the artistic elements are designed to fit on several products so a theme can be followed. For example, a clock that matches a lamp and a tea light. It is also easy to create a custom theme. The basic building block is a "Metal Art Panel".
Restoration
Checkmate Arts can design and create metal reproduction parts for cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles, houses, etc. We can also create art from photos and illustrations. For example a lamp can include etched glass or metal art of a 1956 BMW Isetta.
